Riley, Reid, Lucy and Nathan are bandmates. Riley and Lucy have been BFFs since Elementary school. So when Riley and and Reid walk in on Lucy and Nathan, they're horrified and let down. As a result, Riley and Reid make a pact to tell (write to) each other everything about their love life, crushes and recommended tips how to score a girlfriend. Mostly told in Riley's point of view this book was hilarious from start to finish.
I read this book on Christmas Day during the one hour car ride to grandmother's house. From the very first page I was hooked. I finished the book in three hours.
There were several issues with this novel and I can see it as a turn off for some readers. For example, the ending was a little too immature for a High school setting. I mean the whole pact idea for high school students may be a little much but the ending was predicted 200 pages ahead and solved way too easily. The setting and atmosphere seemed more like a Middle school than a High school setting. Also, there were times were I questioned Reid's sexuality or diagnosed him with deression because he created most of the drama throughout the book. That being said, I don't think Riley was a very good friend to him or anyone for that matter. Honestly, the only reason why Reid stayed friends with Riley and kept the pact together was because he was desperate and too sad.
I found it easy to get past the Middle school drama mostly because I couldn't stop laughing. I thought their pact was cute. And as selfish as Riley was, I adored the advice she gave Reid. It was interesting to see how Reid used and interpreted the advice. The music references and the concerts she attended were a plus. I personally would want to be in a band but I enjoyed her passion for it. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. One that I would recommend to younger audience than myself.

I am glad I didn't even attempt to request this one. I had thought about it, but meh. It just doesn't sound like it is going to be for me, especially if the characters felt so young. There are a lot of things I can overlook, but the "too young" thing bugs me (probably because I am old already hahha), and I usually can't get over that. Thanks for the great review!
